Hand and Foot UV Therapy

Targeted UVB phototherapy using the Medisun HF–216 to treat stubborn hand and foot skin conditions with precision and clinical care.

Many chronic skin conditions affecting the hands and feet can be difficult to manage with creams alone. At Yarraville Dermatology, we offer targeted phototherapy using the Medisun HF–216, a trusted, narrowband UVB device designed specifically for these hard-to-treat areas. This safe and effective treatment helps reduce inflammation, slow excessive skin cell turnover, and restore comfort, especially for those with psoriasis, eczema, or vitiligo isolated to the hands or feet.

About Hand and Foot UV Therapy

This treatment is ideal for patients experiencing chronic or treatment-resistant skin conditions limited to the hands and/or feet, including:

  • Palmoplantar psoriasis
  • Eczema or dermatitis affecting hands or feet
  • Vitiligo on hands or feet
  • Hyperkeratotic or thickened skin plaques
  • Chronic hand dermatitis (often occupational)

A consultation is essential to assess if the treatment is appropriate for your condition and skin type. It is not suitable for patients with photosensitivity, recent skin cancers in the area, or certain autoimmune conditions.

The Medisun HF–216 is a specialised device designed to deliver narrowband UVB light (311 nm) directly to the hands and feet. It features high-output lamps in a compact unit that allows targeted treatment while protecting surrounding skin. By slowing the rapid skin cell turnover and reducing inflammation, this therapy offers a safe and effective solution for otherwise difficult-to-treat areas. Each session is quick and painless, with no systemic effects.
